Fibroids
Uterine fibroids are common. As many as 1 in 5 women may have fibroids during their childbearing years and can happen as early as at the start of menstruation and just before menopause. Fibroids can be so tiny that you need a microscope to see them or can grow very large. Although it is possible for just one fibroid to develop, usually there are more than one. Fibroids often shrink and cause no symptoms in women who have gone through menopause.
Some of the symptoms of Fibroids may include:
• Heavy or Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding
• Bleeding Between Periods
• Pain or Feeling of Pressure in the Lower Abdomen
• Excessive Bleeding Due to Fibroids May Lead to Anemia
• Sometimes, there are often no symptoms at all.
Dr. Joseph Gauta specializes in the medical and surgical management of Fibroids. At your appointment, he may find them during a physical exam, or may order an ultrasound, a pelvic MRI or perform an endometrial biopsy to diagnose your problem depending on the symptoms you have.
